Beauty can be interpreted very subjectively, the classification depends on the preferences of the observer. Now you will find a new function in ChessBase 17 that assigns beauty values to games in a database. How is the term beauty defined mathematically for your chess program?

 

The new function primarily takes into account tactical motifs within a game and is only available if the database to be classified is in the new 2CBH format.

 

The program uses an engine to check each game in quick succession and sets the values for "beauty" in four levels. The beauty value is assigned between zero and three medals in a new column of the game list. This makes each database sortable by beauty, i.e. the spectacular games are at the top. The classification is saved permanently, this is only possible in the new data format (2CBH).

 

 

Fritz cannot perform this classification, but databases with this classification can be read in and searched specifically according to this criterion.
