The program allows direct retrieval of games played on Lichess.org or Chess.com.

Example

Clicking on "Load Online Player" opens the dialog where you can define your search criteria.

Example

The following search criteria are considered:

Name: If you know the player's name, you can enter it in the input field and perform a direct search.

Time Control: Can be toggled on or off. For example, if you're only interested in the opponent's blitz games, enable blitz and disable the other entries.

Date: In the lower section, set the period during which the player's games were played.

Server: In the last line, select the server on which the search will be conducted and confirm with OK.

Example

The displayed list of search results behaves like any other game list. Functions such as the player index, style report, error report, and others are available. The title bar of the window shows the number of games found.

This way, you can quickly create a style report for your own games, allowing you to identify key focus areas for your training.

Note: For Chess.com, game retrieval is done directly through the interface provided by Chess.com and depends on its availability.

Additional Information

The servers of Lichess.org are donation-funded, so ChessBase does not want to create additional load on them. Therefore, the delivery of the games is done through a cache provided by us, which does not access the Lichess servers.

The game lists are sorted by White/Black. If you prefer a different view, use column sorting or modify the list display, for example, by marking the player in the player index -> show White/Black games.

Retrieving the search criteria takes only seconds, even for larger data sets. This is an advantage of the cache solution we use, which works very quickly.

Note: The downloaded games are stored in the directory ChessBase/Download/Lichess or /ChessCom.

Example

The target/storage path may differ if you have made custom settings under options.

Currently, over six billion games are stored in the Lichess cache, which have been processed by us in the new data format (2cbh). Databases of this size are a challenge for ChessBase and the 2cbh format. The fast access during search queries demonstrates the efficiency of the 2cbh format.
