Beauty of Games

The current program version offers the possibility to classify games according to the criterion "beauty". This criterion is also taken into account for the game search, for example. Now, as is well known, the perception of beauty is a matter of taste and often lies in the eye of the beholder.

How is the criterion beauty defined within the program and what concrete benefits does this classification scheme bring to the user?

The program defines beauty in terms of sacrificial tactical games. You have our large reference database with many millions of games, how do you find these exciting games with ChessBase?

In earlier ChessBase versions you could search specifically for sacrifices or combinations, for example. The present program version classifies each game by beauty if desired, the degree is indicated by zero to three orders in a column of the game list.

This makes each database sortable by beauty, i.e. the spectacular games are at the top of the game list.
