Watching games between strong players on playchess.com is particularly instructive as well as being exciting. There are some possibilities for quickly finding games involving strong players in the main playing hall on the chess server.

 

Simple and effective help can be found in the way the program organises the columns. A click on the tab for the “Blitz” column in the players window sorts the list according to that criterion. The players with the highest rating are put at the top of the list and the heading “Status” tells you whether the person is actually playing at that moment. If so, then a double click and you will have the pleasure of kibitzing.

 

 

In the games window, under “All games”  a simple click on “Elo White/Black” is all it takes to quickly find games involving strong players.

 

You can change the order of display of the individual column tabs in order to get a clearer overview of matters. Let us assume that you would like the column “Result” to be further to the left to see at a glance whether the game is still running. Click on the tab, hold the mouse button down and drag the tab to the position you want.

 

A particularly rapid way to find the desired games is with the function “Best Game”.
