The menu Training - Opening Hints can be used to display useful information in the beginning of a chess game. This phase is usually called the "opening".

Start

Note: This is only possible if an openings book has been loaded.

If this option is selected during the opening, the program uses arrows to show the most important moves in the position.

Example

This example shows the board after the first moves of the French defence, 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5. It is now White’s turn, and the green arrows show four plausible moves he can make.

Note: The arrows are not based on calculations made by the program, but on data read from the openings book. For this reason the Opening Hints can only be displayed when an openings book has been loaded.
