Many users use the freeware engine Stockfish in combination with Fritz and ChessBase. Some users have the problem that the engine was downloaded from the developer's download site, but the integration via "Engine" → "Create UCI Engine" does not work. The engine is not loaded under the user interface and the chess engine does not start.

 

 

Our programs support the UCI protocol without restrictions. Every chess engine that supports the standardized UCI protocol also runs under the current user interfaces offered by us.

 

One explanation for the problem you describe is that the Stockfish developers offer customized versions for different processors.

 

 

You should therefore make sure that you use the appropriate version for the processor installed in your computer.

 

Alternatively, choose a version that was developed for older processor versions! These will run without any problems and the small differences in performance will not significantly reduce the quality of the analysis.
