If you primarily play on a laptop with a touchpad. Unfortunately this leads to quite a few slips where you accidentally release the piece before its destination. Is there a way to change the interface so I can click the piece, and then click the destination square?

 

Please disable some options in the option dialog Game.

 

Menu File - Options - Game.

 

 

Disable the items "Single Click Entry" and Premove.

 

Now a smooth operation via touchpad should be possible without any problems.
