A ChessBase database can contain several million games. Our MegaDatabase contains about 10 million games, many played by top players, but also by amateurs. Thus these databases offer an enormous fundus concerning openings, player biographies and in principle a complete overview of tournament chess! In order to evaluate this amount of data in a meaningful way, there is already since the first versions of the program a sophisticated search mask, which allows the user a targeted evaluation of the data material.

Note: the search mask works in its complete functionality in combination with databases, which are stored locally on the hard disk.

The present program version offers with the Interactive Search Mask an even easier to use tool for searching within one or more databases. When compiling the available search parameters, we have taken into account the search criteria preferred by most users.

As in the classic search mask, the search criteria can be combined.

Note: the functionally extended search mask, which you know from the earlier program versions, can be started by clicking on the "Advanced" button.

Interactive indicates that information about the expected number of games is already offered before the actual search process.  Make sure that the database to be searched is in the current data format *.2cbh.

The important search criteria player, tournament, ECO, material and position are offered. Let's have a look at some examples how the interactive search mask works.
