Chessprogram Fritz
Fritz Online is always ready and willing to play against you, no matter if you have a PC, a Mac or want to play on a tablet - and with levels from "beginner" to "grandmaster" he adapts to your strength. On top of that he offers access to the Live Book, automatically saves games in the cloud, and much more. All you need is a Premium Membership and a browser.
Trying tactics against computers - that does not sound like much fun but rather hopeless. After all, if the game gets tactical most players stand no chance against the machine.
But what if the chess program is an opponent who always strives for tactical complications but then has mercy and intentionally fails to play the best and most brutal move? This would lead to entertaining games in which attacking is fun. Fritz 15 is such an opponent - if he plays as a "friend". In this mode the computer measures your playing strength in the various phases of the game (opening, middlegame, endgame) and automatically adapts to it.
The web version https://fritz.chessbase.com now offers a slightly simplified version of this mode. It allows you to test and to improve your skills and to have a lot of fun playing online against the computer. In fact, it is easier to weaken the computer online because Fritz is slower when running on a browser.
You quickly get used to the fact that the program blunders when it plays as „Amateur“ or „Club Player“ and is under pressure. Here, sharpening the play is often a good strategy and sacrificing pawns for an attack often leads to success.
Not to forget the new function „Assisted Play“: If this function is activated and you click on the piece you want to move, all squares to which this piece can go are highlighted. Green says go but red says no, that is, moves to squares that are highlighted in green are tactically sound, while moves to squares that are highlighted in red are tactical blunders. This stops you from making stupid mistakes and makes you ask „What's wrong that move?“- which in turn leads to some calculation that helps you to get better.
If you play against the Web-App of Fritz on "Beginner", "Amateur", or "Club Player" level, the program is looking for chances for you. You do not need much experience to beat the "Beginner" level and on "Amateur" level an experienced player can win without too much effort. But the most interesting level is "Club Player": Here the engine plays natural, positionally logical moves but makes subtle mistakes or allows you hidden tactical possibilities.
Hint: Fritz.chessbase.com can also enrich your website: one line of HTML code is enough to embed the program in various sizes on your website. Here's an instruction how to do that (in English): https://docu.chessbase.com/fritz/configurefritz.html .. Here
And that's how Fritz will appear after being embedded on your website. Just make a move and start a game.
